Western australia's top tourist town
The historical town of Busselton is located on the scenic Geographe Bay in Western Australia. It is in the Margaret River region, home to award-winning wineries. Busselton has a lot to offer visitors stopping in on their way south.
Since being founded by the Bussell family in 1832, the town has been a cattle farming community and a timber exporter. And in recent times it has won tourism awards for the Top Tourist Town three times. So a holiday to Busselton should be on your vacation list.
Busselton is rich in natural and man-made history, and the town still retains some stunning landmarks like the Busselton Jetty, with its newer underwater observatory and the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse. The region is also famous for its caves, such as the Ngilgi, Mammoth, Jewel and Lake caves. To see it all, take the 100 km Heritage Trail as well as some of the guided tours on offer.
Of course, Busselton is a coastal town, so many visitors come just for the beaches. When the weather is glorious during the summer months, the white sands and small-town vibe will delight you. Choose from a range of accommodation options including hotels, resorts, camping grounds or Bed and Breakfasts, and even historical guesthouses and farmstays.
Busselton is also perfectly situated as a starting point for travel to other towns in the region, such as Mandurah, Yallingup, Bunbury and Augusta, the most southern point of Australia. Head out of Perth for a few days and you'll find there is so much more to see in the south-west corner than you imagined.
